DYSLEXIA+
Many people are familiar with the term dyslexia but learning difficulties rarely fit neatly into a single category. Children and adults may experience challenges with reading, writing, maths, attention or processing information — even though they are bright, capable and motivated to learn. The Davis Programmes provide a evidence based, multisensory, strengths based approach to resolving learning difficulties. The program also provides a comprehensive support package for the parent at home.
Understanding Dyslexia+
Individuals may experience elements of several learning differences, including:
• Dyslexia (reading difficulties)
• Dysgraphia (writing difficulties)
• Dyscalculia (maths difficulties)
• Attention challenges such as ADD or ADHD
• Auditory processing differences
• Nystagmus/ BVD (involuntary eye movements affecting reading and writing)
These challenges often overlap, which is why I use the term Dyslexia+ to describe this learning profile
Looking Beyond Labels
Labels can be helpful for describing difficulties but they don’t always explain why they occur, what skills need development, or how learning can improve. My focus is on identifying underlying skills and helping individuals strengthen them, providing a clear path forward rather than simply describing the problem.
How the Programme Helps
The Dyslexia+ programme is designed to support children and adults identify goals and achieve them with practical, multi sensory hands-on methods which do not rely on memorisation/repetition. There is a clear end point and the program creates lasting positive change in the individual.
I focus on:
• Strengthening reading, writing, and maths skills
• Improving attention, focus, and processing abilities
• Building confidence and independence in learning
• Providing guidance and follow-up for parents or carers
Why Bright Children Sometimes Underperform
Many school environments rely heavily on language, memorisation, and phonics-based instruction, assuming all children process information in the same way. Children with auditory processing differences, attention challenges, or a unique learning style may become frustrated, fatigued, or disengaged . By focusing on the underlying skills rather than on the perceived deficits, I help them learn more effectively and enjoyably.
